A simple phone conversation to a female friend led to an informative, but amusing story about her daughter. Jenna is a energetic eight year old that will proudly announce that she is in the, “third grade”, carries her special backpack with her everywhere she goes. Jenna did not always carry such modest pride with her, but one item changed that all in one day. In Jenna’s second grade class her teacher would give small amounts of homework, to instill positive responsibility in young students. However Jenna’s mom, Theresa was not aware Jenna would be given homework, because Jenna would not discuss school. After two weeks Theresa received a call from Jenna’s teacher, stating that she had not done any of her weekly assignments. Theresa was shocked that her eight year old had assignments, but she was distressed that her daughter was neglecting her responsibilities. Before addressing the issue with Jenna, she figured she would motivate her daughter by purchasing fun school supplies.

Theresa knew her first born did not come with a book of instructions, but she would learn. On her shopping journey for her daughter she purchased pens, pencils, paper, and a backpack. After confronting her daughter she displayed her new purchases, and Jenna was very eager. Jenna’s favorite item was her new backpack that had her favorite singer on it. Jenna began bringing home her assignments, notes from the teacher, and this allowed her to become more organized. To this day Jenna still loves school, and looks forward to receiving her new backpack for next year. Who would assume a simple backpack would encourage a child to be more organized, and stimulate a positive reinforcement towards school. Theresa did not just pick out any backpack, but one that fit her daughter’s physical and mental needs. Finding the right backpack may not be considered physics, but sure may seem like a science at times. It is recommended when one is searching for a girls backpack that they have the young girl come with them.

There are many different elements that make her valuable to have in the store; otherwise you may find yourself returning it. Before your quest it is important to consider how long it will be used for, proper fit, style and texture when it applies. Many parents question when they should purchase a new backpack. Whether you consider acquiring one every year school year or every five years is up the parent. Theresa for instance, plans on purchasing a new backpack each year for motivational needs; then providing the gently used one to charity. In this economy it is not always as easy to apply Theresa’s plan. There are many people who have used two backpacks their entire school career with little to no issue. Determine a budget before shopping, and this will assist in allocating a vague time line. The second, but perhaps the most important factor in finding a backpack, is to ensure it is the proper fit. First make sure that it is a child or female youth back pack. If the backpack seems a little large, learn how to tighten the straps and adjust it while in the store. It is important to connect waist straps and sternum straps together; to aide in proper back alignment (Sellers).

To the child and your pocketbook, the style and texture will be among the most important. When a certain celebrity or famous figure is on the backpack, it will typically be more expensive than the rest; which may influence your decision. Open the bag to ensure it is well stitched, has plenty of space, and has as many pockets on the outside as one may see fit. There are different styles of bags such as chic celebrity or icon bags, a young girl’s first backpack with a matching lunch bag, and a convertible bag. A young girl’s first backpack typically uses vinyl to protect it against stains. A convertible bag is practical for a girl any age that is looking for multiple uses in her bag. They are particularly helpful to the older girl, as she may have more books to carry. A convertible bag may change into a bag with wheels or a messenger bag (Desiree). Most would not assume that purchasing backpacks for girls would be such a timely expense, but in the end it is all worth it.
